Biography
Russell R. Bear, D.O., F.A.A.O.S. specializes in disorders of the shoulder and elbow and sports medicine injuries at the Chesapeake Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine division in Glen Burnie and Hanover, Maryland. Dr. Bear has been in practice since 2015 and he has attained a well-rounded background in the field of orthopaedic surgery through his twelve years with the United States Army. He has been awarded the Bronze Star for his efforts in the care of combat-wounded soldiers and Afghanistan citizens. Dr. Bear has treated a variety of patients during his time in the field, including young athletes with ligamentous injuries, patients with fractures, and older individuals requiring joint replacement surgeries.
Dr. Bear earned his undergraduate degree from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in Galloway, New Jersey prior to acquiring his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Since then, he has served as Clinical Instructor and Associate Program Director for the orthopaedic surgery residency training program at his home institution and as a staff surgeon at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas.
